Theological Institute
The Theological Institute is a facet of the Seminary
The Institute provides theological and philosophical formation for:
- RC seminarians preparing to serve the many dioceses of the Caribbean
- men and women of religious congregations within the RC church
- lay men and women of the RC church or other Christian denominations or any persons interested in pursuing a Theology degree or higher studies in Theology
- UWI students pursuing other degrees and interested in choosing Theology courses as electives
- persons interested in following individual courses in Theology with exams (House students), or
- persons interested in following individual courses in Theology without exams (Audit students)
Persons may receive a certificate at the end of their studies.
The Theological Institute is an affiliate institution of UWI, St. Augustine. With the UWI, it offers a Licentiate/Diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Theology.
The Theological Institute is registered with the ACTT (Accreditation Council of Trinidad & Tobago).
2025 finds us at an important juncture. The RC Church is living out the experience of the Synod on Synodality – a worldwide process of listening, discerning and acting that is “enlightened by the Holy Spirit” in which the Church has been “called to review its own experience and identify the steps to be taken to live communion, realise participation and promote the mission.” (Pope Francis, For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission, https://www.synod.va/content/dam/synod/news/2024-10-26_final-document/ENG—Documento-finale.pdf).
Our programme is open to all interested in journeying together to discern God’s calling in their lives while helping to transform the Caribbean space through commitment to the values of love, justice and peace.
